How We Handle Your Personal Information

This policy sets out what data we collect when you visit assessorpropertysearch.org/, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under U.S. state privacy laws โ€” California's CCPA and CPRA, Virginia's VCDPA, Colorado's CPA, Connecticut's CTDPA, Texas's TDPSA, Florida's FDBR, Oregon's OCPA, and the growing list of state laws that apply across the country. Read it alongside our Cookie Policy and Disclaimer.

1. Who We Are

assessorpropertysearch.org/ is an independent informational and editorial directory of county assessor offices, county appraiser offices, central appraisal districts, and state property-tax oversight bodies across the 50 U.S. states. It is operated as a privately-owned editorial publication. We are not affiliated with any county assessor's office, state oversight body (California State Board of Equalization, Florida Department of Revenue, Texas Comptroller, etc.), the IRS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO), or any commercial property-records aggregator, title company, or real estate platform.

For all privacy and data inquiries, contact: info@assessorpropertysearch.org

2. FCRA Non-CRA Position โ€” Critical for Property Records

assessorpropertysearch.org/ is NOT a Consumer Reporting Agency

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. ยง 1681 et seq.) regulates "consumer reports" used for "permissible purposes" โ€” primarily employment, credit, insurance, and tenant screening. assessorpropertysearch.org/ does not assemble, evaluate, or sell consumer reports. We do not provide background checks, tenant-screening reports, employment-screening reports, or any kind of consumer report. Property records that are technically “public” are not, for that reason alone, exempt from FCRA when used for FCRA-permissible-purpose decisions. Use of any content on this site to make decisions about a person’s employment, credit, insurance, tenant suitability, or other FCRA-regulated matter is prohibited by these Terms and may expose the user to liability under federal law. Information published on our site is general informational content drawn from public county and state agency pages.

3. We Do Not Sell Property Records or Operate as a Data Broker

assessorpropertysearch.org/ does NOT sell, license, or commercially redistribute property records

Property records are held by the county assessor, appraiser, or recorder. Public access to those records is provided by the county itself through its own portal. When you click through from our site to a county property-search portal, the county handles your search under the county’s own privacy and access framework โ€” not ours. We do not maintain a “property records database.” We do not sell or licence property records. We do not operate as a “people search” or commercial property-data broker. We are an editorial directory that helps you find the right official county portal.
